The Li-Kin or War tax at Canton was formerly levied in two distinct forms, viz: – on merchandise in transitu, called 行厘 (King Li), and upon the resident traders and shopkeepers, called 坐厘 (Tso Li). This latter branch of the levy was abolished two years ago by the late Governor Kiang.
